HRC employs traditional diagnostic analysis to examine spatial-temporal structure, variability, evolution and underlying physics of such diverse natural processes as sea surface temperature, rainfall, soil moisture, watershed hydrology, winter storms and ocean surface waves. Inference methods combine numerical modeling, model validation, statistics, probability theory, and sensitivity analysis techniques.
