Education and training activities include traditional academic courses (taught through the University of California, San Diego, UCSD) as well as training courses and videos. In addition, projects at HRC often involve the development of systems for agencies and governments throughout the world. Scientists from HRC and host agencies travel to and from HRC for extended training sessions. HRC also supports visiting scholars, postdoctoral associates and students. Dr. Georgakakos of HRC is an adjunct faculty member at UCSD. HRC supports graduate students attending Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UCSD and Dr. Georgakakos has served as their primary academic adviser and dissertation committee chair.
