The Hydrologic Research Center is joining with its partners the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) the U.S. Agency for International Development/Office of the U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance (USAID/OFDA), and the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration/National Weather Service (U.S. NOAA/NWS) in organizing and participating in the Flash Flood Guidance System (FFGS) Global Workshop. The workshop will be held in Antalya, Turkey from 4 to 8 November 2019 and hosted by the Turkish State Meteorological Service (TSMS).
The goal of the Global Workshop is to bring together the users of the regional and national Flash Flood Guidance Systems (FFGS) to build a roadmap on maintaining the sustainability of operations for FFGSs implemented world wide.
The specific workshop objectives are to: share experiences, showcase accomplishments, determine challenges and identify gaps towards establishing recommended practices; identify sustainability issues to develop the roadmap to ensure long-term operations and service delivery of FFGSs; and provide training to further understanding of the new capabilities of the FFGS.
