Dr. Cheng joined HRC as a Post-doctoral Associate in February 2017. He graduated from the University of Iowa with a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering in 2016. His primary research interests are Computational Fluid Dynamics and its applications in the study of shallow river confluences, sediment transport, and bathymetry changes in open channels with loose beds. His emphasis at HRC is to work on river routing simulations to provide advice and guidance for flash flood warning and mitigation. This work includes flash flood occurrences in both highly urbanized and rural regions.
